Stairs, Company, and an Anxiety Attack!
The Delivery Men
We have been moving for the last month, and Lilly has been having a hard time. We are finally all moved in, but the unsettling factors still remains...unpacking, cleaning, and all sorts of commotion! Today we had a washer delivered that was supposed to replace the old new one they delivered prior that ended up with a glitch. Well, this caused Lilly to go into full panic mode!
Lilly does this when anyone new comes over. The other day we met the neighbor and his dogs. She let the dogs bark at her aggressively while she did nothing, but the minute the human appeared she went on full bark mode!
Anyways...The washer men were here, and she started barking like crazy! I put her in her crate and she started to whine profusely. I then thought of an idea...sometimes beings with sensory needs like to be enclosed. So, I started piling the empty moving boxes around her crate to make her feel safe. It worked! She was quiet the rest of the time..about an hour...that it took them to install.
A New Backyard / Learning Lilly Can Fall Up The Stairs
While getting to know her new yard Lilly ran into a problem. You see, Lilly has gone up and down stairs several times before, but she has never had this problem before...
...When Lilly first arrived in the backyard she went up the deck stairs, and then fell off of the top step because she just dived right off of it ungracefully. Then later I took her outside, we went down the deck stairs, and Lilly searched for a space to go potty.
Eventually we came back to the deck, and realized she forgot how to go up the stairs. I had to go down and up them three times before she got the hang of it! The next day we went down the deck stairs again. Both Lilly and I seemed confident that she got this! She is golden...I mean, how many times can you fall off of, or forget how to go up stairs right? Well this time she tried to jump right to the top stair from the ground. She fell three times before getting up the stairs. You know...pummeling her chest against the hard wood that many times didn't keep her down...It only made her stronger? Sometimes I don't know how I write about this stuff with a straight face. Wait...I don't!
